Deodorant

Now I’ll admit this deodorant doesn’t stop you from sweating, and it doesn’t completely eliminate your natural body odor. I use it for everyday light wear, but I also keep a stick of store bought deodorant for days when I don’t want to sweat or smell. If you are going for a job interview, a night out dancing, or a first date, this probably won’t cut it, but it’s nice to have it as a light and healthy alternative.

2 1/2 tablespoons coconut oil

2 1/2 tablespoons unrefined shea butter

1/4 cup cornstarch or arrowroot starch

1 1/2 tablespoon baking soda

6 drops each lavender and grapefruit essential oil

1 drop tea tree essential oil (you may eliminate this if you have sensitive skin)

Melt all ingredients together in a double boiler. I just use a stainless steel or ceramic bowl balanced over a saucepan of boiling water. While stirring to prevent separating, pour into storage containers. Chill in refrigerator or freezer.

NOTE: ingredients will separate as the mixture cools. I like to cool rapidly in the freezer, and remove and shake every 5 minutes or so as it cools to prevent separation.
